Where The Light Settles
A quiet study of water, light, and the spaces where calm begins.
Louise Brook, 2026
Where The Light Settles is a trio of abstract works exploring fluidity, oceanic movement, and the quiet serenity of Mediterranean light. Each piece plays with the tension between openness and structure: sweeping blue forms drift across the surface while geometric marks and intentional negative space create moments of pause, balance, and breath. Together, they form a visual meditation on water, place, and the gentle rhythm of ebb and flow.
Created using acrylic paints, the series embraces a process of layering, transparency, and intuitive movement. The paint is allowed to shift and settle, echoing the natural behaviour of water. The negative space is as considered as the colour itself—an essential part of the composition that offers room to reflect, rest, and simply be.
Inspired by the colours, atmosphere, and unhurried calm of the Mediterranean, these works aim to capture not just an environment, but a feeling: the way light softens edges, the way water holds motion, and the way a moment of stillness can settle within us.
