About The Collection:
The “Remember Me Softly” collection by Louise Brook (2025) consists of three original mixed-media abstracts centred on the poppy flower. Each piece merges botanical forms with abstract expression, inviting viewers into a contemplative space where colour, texture, and symbolism intertwine through gorgeous, subtle layers.
Inspiration for the collection was born from the various symbolic meanings of the poppy flower, from the ubiquitous mark of remembrance to the lesser-known associations with resilience, renewal, and the fragility yet endurance of life. As the world grapples with ongoing conflicts and uncertainty, these works are an invitation to step away from the external, just for a moment.
At the heart of each composition, the poppies with their delicate, layered forms and natural softness form a focal point to encourage exploration, contemplation, and quiet reflection. The collection uses a delicate yet exciting mix of acrylic inks, acrylic paint, and other mixed media, to create gorgeous layers, transparencies, and subtle depth. Fleeting glimpses of earlier layers provide tantalising glimpses into the artistic process, where the creative journey becomes part of the viewing experience.
