Alstroemeria: Walking on Sunshine
Walking on Sunshine is part of the Alstroemeria Collection by Louise Brook (2026) comprising four original mixed-media abstracts centred on the Peruvian Lily flower.
Each piece merges botanical forms with abstract expression, inviting viewers into a contemplative space where colour, texture, and symbolism intertwine through gorgeous, subtle layers.
Inspiration for the collection came from directly outside Louise’s studio window where the flowers bloom prolifically during the summer. This visual cue prompted further research into the meaning and symbolism of the flowers, which represent friendship, loyalty, and devotion.
In a time where the world is grappling with conflicts, fear and uncertainty, these works are an invitation to remember the positive influences and friendships that are closer to home.
At the heart of each composition, the alstroemeria with their delicate, layered forms and natural softness form a focal point to encourage exploration, contemplation, and quiet reflection.
The collection uses a delicate yet exciting mix of acrylic inks, acrylic paint, and other mixed media, to create gorgeous layers, transparencies, and subtle depth. Fleeting glimpses of earlier layers provide tantalising glimpses into the artistic process, where the creative journey becomes part of the viewing experience.
