Surfacing (A Triptych)

I am delighted that "Surfacing" has progressed to the final round of the SAA 2024 Artists of the Year competition! Out of over 1900 entries it was selected as one of the top 100 finalists and will be featured in the finalists exhibition at The Nottingham Society of Artists’ Gallery on Friar Lane in Nottingham, taking place from 1st - 6th October, 2024.

If you are intersted in this piece please do get in touch to place a reserve on it, in the event that it does not sell at the exhibition.

Surfacing is a dramatic abstract triptych by Louise Brook, inspired by the colours and movement of the oceans. Using an exciting combination of acrylic & mixed media, this triptych captures the energy of the artist’s creative process through expressive brushstrokes and intuitive mark making.

The initial impression of a striking yet simple wave-like design is disrupted by closer viewing, which reveals beautiful details, subtle transparency and layering, and intricate 3D reliefs. The striking composition and beautiful colours of this piece combine with rich layers, mark making and beautiful textural detail to deliver a compelling visual experience.
